Our one-of-a-kind design boasts a rapid set-up and pack-up time. From taking the kayak out of the backpack to fully set up and ready to glide across the water in three minutes and can be packed up even quicker.
AMAZING CAPABILITIES
Our 488T folding kayak is incredibly lightweight while still sturdy enough to take a 140kg pilot plus luggage.  Its lightweight and directional stability requires minimal effort to maintain a rapid pace.  The streamlined hull allows excellent penetration into strong headwinds.
MADE BY HAND
BakPakYak folding kayaks are handcrafted in Victoria, Australia by family and local contractors from a custom polypropylene extrusion which has just the right blend of plasticity and uv stability that affords optimal durability, stiffness and toughness.
STRICT QUALITY CONTROL
The quality control required in manufacturing aviation products over the past 30 years has been carried over to manufacturing our backpack kayaks.
CUSTOMISATION
At BakPakYak customisation is always an option.  We have cockpits with and without foot stirrups - we prefer without as you can easily brace your legs on the side of the hull.  Another option is our short-pack paddles that fit inside the backpack.  Contact us to discuss your specific colours and options.
RECYCLABILITY
Our folding kayaks are constructed from locally extruded polypropylene that can be returned to the manufacturer and be recombined into new extruded polypropylene products such as sign boards, tree guards, fruit boxes, etc.
